What separates marine plywood from ordinary exterior plywood is not the glue alone — it is the core. Marine-grade panels are built from hardwood veneers with no core gaps, no overlapping plies and no patched voids, because a void inside a hull or a deck is a place where water collects and rot starts.

Huayanwood builds marine plywood with WBP phenolic adhesive on every glue line, hardwood throughout, and 4 mm to 30 mm thickness in 1220 × 2440 mm. Panels can be supplied with sealed edges and cut to size for deck and fit-out schedules.

Why this series

Built to a specification, not to a price point.

/ 01

Void-free is the whole point

We specify no core gaps and no patched defects on marine orders. A panel that is cheaper because it contains voids is not marine plywood, whatever the label says.

/ 02

WBP on every line, not just the faces

Boil-proof phenolic adhesive throughout is what survives permanent wetting. Interior-grade glue lines hidden in the core are the most common failure in cheap 'marine' panels.

/ 03

Thickness up to 30 mm

Transom, keel and engine-bed work needs real section. 25 mm and 30 mm are held in stock thicknesses rather than made to order.

/ 04

Straight answers on certification

We build to BS 1088 principles and can supply third-party bond and void test reports on request. We do not claim a certificate we have not been issued.

Ask a question →
What is the difference between marine plywood and film faced plywood?

Marine plywood is about the core and the glue: void-free hardwood and WBP phenolic throughout, for permanent water exposure. Film faced plywood is about the surface: a phenolic film that releases concrete. A film faced panel can be exterior grade, but it is not a substitute for a void-free marine core.

Is your marine plywood BS 1088 certified?

We manufacture to BS 1088 principles — hardwood throughout, void-free core, WBP phenolic on every line — and can arrange third-party bond and void testing on request. We will not describe a panel as certified unless the certificate has actually been issued for that batch.

Can marine plywood stay permanently in water?

It is designed for repeated wetting and immersion in service, but any plywood needs protection: edges sealed, faces coated, and no standing water trapped against the panel. Encapsulation with epoxy or a proper paint system is what makes it last decades rather than seasons.

Why is 4 mm and 6 mm available?

For curved work — hull skins, kayak and canoe builds, and thin linings that need to bend. Thicker panels from 18 mm upward are used for structural members and floors.

What is the minimum order?

One 20GP, about 22 m³. Mixed thicknesses can be loaded in one container, which is usual for boat yards buying a fit-out spread.
