What is SPC Plywood — Fragrant Fir Core?

SPC plywood — known in the trade as fragrant fir core board — replaces the layered veneer core with a continuous solid core of fragrant fir strips. The practical difference shows at the cut: a solid core saws to a clean, straight, splinter-free edge that layered cores cannot match, and it grips screws and staples along the whole depth instead of only at veneer lines.

That is why joineries specify it where the edge stays visible (shelving, worktops, door cores) or where a thick, stable section is needed (20 and 25 mm panels for furniture tops and structural parts). Huanawood produces it in 4×8 ft and 4×9 ft, 9–25 mm, with okoume, bintangor, pine or poplar faces.

Why buyers choose our SPC Plywood — Fragrant Fir Core

Edge quality you can leave exposed

A solid fir core cuts and routes to a clean line — no voids, no stepped veneers. Shelves and worktops look finished straight off the saw.

Full-depth fastener grip

Screws bite into solid wood along the whole penetration, not just at glue lines. Hinge cups and connector bolts hold better in 18–25 mm panels.

Naturally light scent, low resin

Fragrant fir is pleasant to machine and does not gum up tooling the way high-resin pine cores can.

Thick sections without weight penalty

Fir is lighter than eucalyptus or hardwood cores, so 25 mm panels stay manageable for one-person handling.

Applications

Door cores and frames

Solid core gives flush doors their feel and bolt holding.

Furniture tops and sides

20–25 mm thick sections with a clean visible edge.

Partition and wall panelling

Straight edges make butt joints almost invisible.

Packaging and crating

Screw-and-staple holding for reusable export crates.

Frequently asked questions

What does SPC mean on a plywood board? Is it stone-plastic composite?
No. In the Chinese panel trade, SPC here refers to the solid fragrant fir core construction (same abbreviation, different industry usage). It is a wood panel, not the vinyl flooring product.
SPC core or plywood core — how do I choose?
Choose SPC core when the edge is visible or you need full-depth screw holding. Choose layered plywood core when the panel will be bent, routed into profiles, or weight is critical.
Does the fir core add any scent to furniture?
Fragrant fir has a mild natural wood scent that fades over weeks. It is widely used indoors and complies with E1 emissions.
Which thickness for door cores?
Most flush-door makers use 18 mm core panels; 20 and 25 mm for premium solid-feel doors.
Can I order SPC core in 4×9 ft?
Yes — 1220 × 2745 mm is a standard production size for this line.
